About the college-

The Army Welfare Education Society oversaw the establishment of the Army Institute of Nursing in Guwahati in 2006. The institute's mission is to provide high-quality education to the children of active-duty and retired members of the Indian Army and other Defense forces. 10% of the seats are set aside for civilian students (girls) who are residents of the seven North East States as a welfare measure. The Institute is associated with the Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences in Assam and approved by the Indian Nursing Council in New Delhi and the Assam Nurses Midwives and Health Visitors' Council in Assam. The B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Nursing programmes at the Army Institute of Nursing include four disciplines.

AIN Admission 2024

  • A B.S./M.S. application form is included with the prospectus. 

  • Prospectuses can be received by paying application fees at the AWES offices in Delhi or AIN, Guwahati. 

  • Sending a Demand Draft to AIN/ Command HQ (AWES)/ Army HQ (AWES), New Delhi, would also get you an application form. 

  • All correspondence must include the application number. 

  • The name listed on the application form must match the name on the 10+2 or matriculation certificates.

Eligibility-

  • For the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.The applicant must have completed the 10+2 test on their first try, with a minimum of 50% in each of the four subject areas : physics, chemistry, biology, and english. Anyone who has taken the 10+2 test more than once, has taken a supplementary exam in any subject, or has earned an XII diploma from a private school or the open board is ineligible.

  • The applicant must have earned a minimum of 55% overall in B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in the first attempt from a school approved by the Indian Nursing Council for getting admission into the Master of Science in Nursing.

UG Admissions-

The Institute provides a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree programme. Female wards of serving (minimum ten-year service) or retired Army members, including widows of such persons, serving Army personnel, or wards of ex-Army personnel who have taken discharge or release after ten-year service are the only ones eligible for admission.

PG Admissions-

The M.Sc. Nursing programme at the Army Institute of Nursing is two years long. Assam's Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences confers the degree for this programme.
