Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) is India's most prestigious technical institute. The college, which was founded in 1961, has since produced a number of excellent engineers. It is West Bengal's second-oldest engineering school.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved JGEC's courses, and the National Board of Accreditation has accredited them (NBA). Bachelor's degrees are offered in six fields of engineering, as well as master's degrees in two.
