The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is a medical school located at Pondicherry, under the government of India since 1956 is one of the leading medical institutes of India . JIPMER aims to provide high quality learning environment .JIPMER offers a variety of courses. Undergraduate courses include MBBS, BSc (Medical Laboratory Technology), BSc( Allied Medical Sciences- Cardiac Lab Technology/Dialysis/Neuro/OT), BMRSc (Bachelor of Medical Record Science). BSc (Nursing) was started in 2006. Postgraduate courses include MD, MS, and diploma in many specialties, MSc in Nursing, Medical Biochemistry and Medical Physiology and PhD in several subjects.
Super-specialty courses include MCh in cardiothoracic surgery, urology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery, gastro intestinal surgery and DM in Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Neonatology, Clinical pharmacology and Immunology. In January 2014 JIPMER started a master's in public health course. Emergency Medical Technician course MRO and MRT.

Fees are nearly about 12,643 excluding all expenses like hostel fees and mess charges every field has different charges . Which nearly goes around 10000 per year .

JIPMER is spread over 200 acres.
Available Facilities: computer labs, electrophysiology laboratory , most of the hostels here found in hostel complex . Typically male undergraduate students get rooms in the Osler House. For boys in first year4 students per flat applied the same for girls , in hall and dining areas they have study tables ,Complex includes cricket ground , basketball court, football court.
