The institute was founded in the year 1995 on 24 November in Bangalore under Indian council of Agricultural research The institution is aimed to carry research and resources related to animal feed resources using approaches of nutrition and physiology. Today the institution is transformed into a new campus and was Inaugurated by the Union Minister.

- Nutritional conditioning for neonatal programming in broiler chicken.
- Development of novel semen extender for improved post thaw motility of cryopreserved buffalo semen
