NID Admission 2022-23 | National Institute of Design UG & PG Course Last Date
National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad is a national design school, with three active campuses in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar , Bengaluru. Main campus is located in Ahmedabad which was established in 1961. Pg campus is located in Gandhinagar which was established on 19 July 2004, and the campus for research and development is located in Bengaluru, Karnataka which was established on 31 March 2006. Under the National Institute of Design Act, NID is given an Institute Of National Importance.

Foundation courses are provided through UG courses and international programs also through researches and international workshops. The college provides 100 seats for undergraduate studies and 285 seats for postgraduates. The admission procedure is through NID's entrance exam Design Aptitude Test (DAT) which is also known as NEED The National Entrance Examination for Design.
The entrance exam is conducted by NID in two stages to select candidates for B.Des, M.Des and GDPD courses. It is an aptitude test and that is the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT). NID DAT is again divided into two stages. The first stage is NID DAT and the second stage is NID DAT Mains. The first stage examination is a written test using pen and paper. A written test is conducted to evaluate the candidate's visualisation skills, creative & observation skills, knowledge, comprehension, analytical ability etc. The question paper has both subjective and objective type questions and it has a weightage of 30% in the overall examination. Generally NID DAT prelims are conducted in the month of December-January every year. After the first stage the Shortlisted candidates are invited to appear for the second stage examinations. Generally NID DAT Mains is held in the month of May. It holds a weightage of 70% in the calculation of the final score.
