National institute of Virology is one the best institutes of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). It was established in Pune, Maharashtra in 1952 as Virus Research Center (VRC) under the ICMR and RF Rockefeller Foundation, USA. It was an outcome of a global programme of RF for investigating the Arthropod Borne viruses.The research activities in the center are made meaningful and self reliant by organizing new areas of research, such as Cell repository, Electron microscopy, Rickettsioses, Hepatitis, Influenza and related viruses, Clinical virology, Biochemistry, Virus registry, and Biostatistics. Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) consisting of eminent scientists coordinate the research activities. In the time of covid19 situation the institution tested 388,600 samples of ICMR in Pune

Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the course is a bachelor's degree in any discipline of zoology, botany, biotechnology, microbiology, chemistry, veterinary science with 60% aggregate, in case of reserved categories there is relaxation of 5%.
