NLSIU Admission 2024 | National Law School of India University UG & PG Course Last Date

The National Law School of India, Bangalore, came into existence in 1986 by a statute passed by the Legislative assembly of the state of Karnataka. This University is known for its highly competitive admission process which includes around 120 students in the undergraduate law course, 40 students in the Master's of law course and 50 in its Master of public policy course. The main purpose of the establishment of NLSIU, was to set up a University on the level of the Harvard Law School, in India, by the Legal Education Committee of the Bar Council of India. The joint efforts made by the Bar Council of India Trust and the Government of Karnataka resulted in the foundation of NLSIU, under the guidance and leadership of Mr. Vinay Chandra Mishra, the then  chairman of the Bar Council of India and Mr. Ramkrishna Hegde, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka.

The admission process of this University is not as easy as it seems to be. One opting to study here needs to compete in the Common Law Test Admission Test (CLAT). According to the results of the 2015 CLAT examination, only 55 students were selected from a total of 70,000 students competing in the exam all over India, therefore making it to be one of the most competitive exams in india.

The National Law School of India has been included in the ' Top 30 Law colleges of India ' by Outlook India in 2019 and the Week's ' Top colleges of India ' in 2019. It has also been ranked first by India Today's ' India's Best Law colleges, 2024 '.
