Rammohan College is one of the oldest colleges in Kolkata which was founded in 1943 by Brahmo missionaries. The main aim of the founders of this college was to promote the cause of education in its highest and widest sense.

The college had later started a full girls batch in the morning in 1951 which was affiliated with Calcutta university.
The Principal of the college believes that "when we educate a person, only an individual is educated, but if we educate a woman- we educate a whole family".
The only drawback of this college is that it doesn't provide any placement or internship options.
