The university was set up in the year 1982 at Srinagar, Kashmir in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The university gets its name from the famous Kashmiri leader Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who was known as Sher e Kashmir (Lion of Kashmir). Many colleges, research, and extension centers are affiliated with the University. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) approve the university. The aim is to disseminate knowledge and technology to the farming community by developing scientists, researchers.

COURSES OFFERED

The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the branches of Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Biotechnology Environmental sciences such as Bachelor of Veterinary Science [BVSc], Master of Science [MSc], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc.], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech], (Agricultural Engineering), and PhD courses in Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries, Horticulture.

 

ENTRANCE EXAM

The score of the following entrance exams are accepted by the university: SKUAST entrance test and ICAR AIEEA.

 

FEES STRUCTURE

The fees are low and affordable. The fees for BSc and BTech are INR 31,400. The fees for BFSc and BVSc are INR 31,900. The fees for PhD are 60,000. The fees for MFSc and MVSc are 30,600.
