Sikkim Manipal University is a private university located in Gangtok, Sikkim. It was set up jointly by the Government of Sikkim and Manipal Pai Foundation and is also considered as the first public-private partnership. Its main objective is to promote education and improve health care.

SMU Admission 2024

The courses run by Sikkim Manipal University are all approved by Medical Council of India (MCI), Nursing Council of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapy, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) ,UGC and the Distance Education Council.

 

The courses are broadly divided into the categories of biotechnology, humanities & social sciences, technology, management and nursing. They also run some value-added courses as a new economic policy.

 

The following colleges are being included under Sikkim Manipal University.

  1. Sikkim Manipal Institute of medical sciences

  2. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology

  3. Sikkim Manipal college of Nursing

  4. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Physiotherapy

  5. Department of humanities and social sciences

They also have special institutes for masters in hospital administration, medical biotechnology and paramedical.

 

They do provide various concessions to their students upon the merit and need. Also, a special scholarship is run by them named as National fellowship for persons with disabilities. They also have done great work in research & development as they have undertaken 30+ crore research projects being funded by DST, DBT, AICTE, ICMR and MCI.

 

They also organize various events and programs for skill development such as Labor Analgesia webinar, nationwide training of nurses, webinar on women empowerment, They also provide various awards and recognitions to appreciate their students in keeping up the good work. To promote international exposure, they do have an International collaboration cell.

 

Facilities include laboratories, workshops and practice school for hands- on learning. Cafeteria and transport facilities are also provided.
