SRM University is a private university. It was established in the year 2013. The acronym SRM stands for Shri Ramasamy Memorial.

The university has been divided into 10 schools or faculties namely school of hospitality and tourism, school of information technology, school of languages, school of management and commerce, school of skill building, school of basic sciences, school of public health, school of social sciences, school of journalism and mass communication and other faculty.

They provide three categories of scholarships to its students which are as follows-

1. Founder's scholarship

2. Sikkim Native scholarship

3. Employee ward scholarship

To ensure discipline and quality, there is an anti ragging cell and a grievance redressal committee. Athletics have been given equal importance as they provide various opportunities to its students in terms of athletics such as infrastructure for chess, table tennis, cricket, badminton, football etc.

For effective placements of its students, there is a placement and training cell which provides ample opportunities to its students. Over the years, the placement record has been great. Some of the major recruiters include Byju's, flipkart, wipro, oyo, Indigo and many more.

The club of SRM University is named as Rotaract club of SRM. The university has established an entrepreneurship cell which undertakes the promotion of entrepreneurial activities by conducting various events and seminars. The university also publishes their own newsletter which is named as kaleidoscope. They also honor the meritorious students with different medals and certifications.

Campus is well equipped with different kind of facilities such as residential facilities, high tech classrooms with projectors, fully furnished auditorium and seminar halls, library, computer centres etc.
