The THDC-IHET Technology development Center was established by the institute to encourage renewable energy innovation by teams of scientists and engineers from the university and any other UTU-affiliated institutions.In the second National Uttarakhand Education Summit & Awards 2015, the institute earned the award for "Excellent Institute for Promoting Hydropower in Uttarakhand" from the CMAI Association of India.The college has no official director, and all responsibilities are delegated to the local authority.

Many work prospects exist in civil engineering, particularly in the government institutions. Civil engineers are also needed by THDC. The usual package for most graduates is in the range of 7-8 lakhs.
