About the college

Waikhom Mani Girls College founded in 1980, is located in Thoubal district, is a few kilometres away from the city of Imphal in Manipur. It was established in the year 1980 with its motto “Enter to learn, learn to serve”. The sole objective of establishing the college was imparting higher education to women and increasing female literacy rates in rural areas. It is affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur for 10+2 and to Manipur University for under graduation. The infrastructure is up to date and wholesome with facilities such as a cafeteria, accommodation, on campus internet access, a Biotech hub, access to an indoor stadium and a huge playground, a well-stocked library, science labs, a Career Counselling Cell to guide students, Remedial Coaching, Spoken English course, Scholarships, girls’ common room and smart board teaching classrooms.

The institution offers Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in various subjects such as Geography, English, History, Home Science, Economics, Anthropology, Manipuri, Education, Statistics, Sociology, Mathematics, Political Science and Philosophy. It also runs Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in subjects such as Geology, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Home Science, Economics, Statistics, Zoology, Botany and Anthropology. Both the courses are based on semester system pattern and entail studying Manipuri or General English in first and second semester, Regional development (North East) in third semester and Environmental studies in fourth semester. Apart from these 9 additional career oriented courses are also offered at advance, certificate and diploma level. For applying to the courses the candidates are required to register themselves at the Directorate of University & Higher Education website and fill in the application form. The shortlisted students would be notified via a notice on the website Notice Board.

Eligibility

A candidate is eligible to apply for B.A. and B.Sc. courses if he has passed 10+2 from Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur or any other examination recognised by Manipur University.
