Birsa Agricultural University [BAU], was established in 1981 and was formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as a public University. This University aims at creating and developing specific techniques and technologies in the disciplines of forestry, animal husbandry and agriculture in the plateau region of Jharkhand and Bihar. As an agricultural University situated at Kanke, Ranchi, this institute's primary objective is to boost the economic conditions of the tribal and backward classes and to extend their education and towards through the use of new technologies.
