The National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) was founded by Prof. Dr Balvir S. Tomar,  an alumnus of King's College London and Harvard University, in 2001. This University is a self-dependent technical and medical university established in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It is affiliated by the UGC, under the NIMS University Act 2008 by the Government of India, and recognised by DCI, PCI, MCI, INC, BCI, and COA.
