Guru Nanak College was established in the outskirts of Budhlada , town in Mansa , in the year 1971 commemorating the 500th birth anniversary of ‘ Shree Guru Nanak Dev Ji ’ first sikh guru by eminent personalities .College is affiliated to University of Punjab , located in patiala . College aims to make affordable and accessible education for all especially to the oppressed and underprivileged candidates . It culminates in the students becoming a better individual ready to face the vicissitudes of the coming generation .

The college after being instituted functioned under local management for a short period but ultimately was led under the supervision of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) which is a philanthropic organization of sikh community .

It started expanding its dimension with radical augment in number of courses offered , quality of faculties hired , infrastructure since 2008 , the Guru Nanak College became foremost organization having 16 postgraduate along with 12 undergraduate courses which  includes 3 skill development vocational and industry oriented courses to make the scholars  adapt to the need of upcoming mutating era .The college has extremely experienced , well qualified and hardworking teaching staff with a total; strength of 151 dedicated to the total 5926 enrolled students with 2190 male and 3736 female students . Hence it also represents excellent student teacher ratio and equally well gender ratio.

It has been accredited by NAAC and AICTE as well . The  college has come ahead with an excellent teaching and learning process offering 31 courses across 9 streams namely IT , Science , Arts , Performing Arts , and Medical with robust teaching pedagogy. The college also recruits graduates and postgraduates with its employing   history in both corporate and public sector as well as entrepreneurship .
