HPU Admission 2024 | Himachal Pradesh University UG & PG Course Last Date

Himachal Pradesh University is an Indian public state university in summer hill in state capital city shimla . It was established on 22nd july 1970 by act of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly . It is financed by the Himachal Pradesh government and University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi . Faculty for law came into existence in this university on the same date but other departments commenced in subsequent years.With 132 faculties , out of which 11 comprises 52 departments and 5 centers and institutes. It has been affiliated to UGC , AIU, ACU, and NAAC. With its prime location in the heart of shimla surrounded by tall and lush green trees of deodar , pines and rhododendron , it pridely promotes its motto “shastra shastra cha kaushalam” which is a sanskrit words meaning those who are armored with knowledge are skillful.

It organizes several competitions, for instance moot court competition which gives the  exposure to students of real courtroom trials. Essay competition, debate competition , research paper competition , seminars , conferences and ADR competition are few of the many programmes organized here which helps in all round development of students and boosts their skills and proficiency.

Government college of Sanjauli, Karsog , Dharamshal, Kamarsin, Barsar , Hamirpur ,st  Bede’s college of shimla , Rajkiya mahavidyalaya, Shimla , Rajiv gandhi degree college , shimla are few of the many colleges that are affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University.

It has an excellent network of notable alimini . Some of which are amongst the popular names of countries relating to politics and the entertainment industry. Some of them are- Hamid Karzai , former president of Afghanistan , JP Nadda , chairman of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Anand sharma , former union minister, notable actor Mr Anupam Kher who was a dropout from government college, sanjauli, famous singer Mohit Chauhan , Mr Randeep Guleria , director of AIIMS and Mr Sanjay Karol, chief justice of Tripura High Court are among the  many famous alumni of this university.
