JB LAW COLLEGE also abbreviated as Jnanadubhiram Barooah law college was established and named after an eminent personality of Assam for legal purpose Mr Jnanadubhiram Barooah  in the year 1969 in Guwahati city, the biggest city , the biggest city of Assam , situated at the bank of sacred Brahmaputra river. Guwahati is also recognised as the city of the temples. It is affiliated to Guwahati  university and recognised by University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Since it is also affiliated to the Bar Council of India (BCI) , it is also known for its law courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. It has got the status of section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956.

JB LAW College provides bachelor’s and master’s degree in the field of law including LLB , a 3 year course pursued after obtaining graduation degree, LLM which is pursued after LLB and a 5 year integrated course BA.LLB which can be pursued directly after completing +2 from recognised state board or CBSE or ISC board  but should not fail to satisfy their criteria. Selection of students for BA.LLB and LLB is based on the merit of the last qualifying exam followed by an admission test organized by the college itself which also entails a short interview as well. To seek admission in LLM , candidates are asked to clear a statutory written administration test comprising topics in the field of law majorly including Jurisprudence, constitutional law, Indian Penal Code (IPC) and current legal prob.

Under the norms of reservation, colleges grant  5% relaxation for the students of Assam belonging to SC/ST/OBC and MOBC category. With a manageable fee of 13000 for UG and 22000 for PG , it is also economically friendly and affordable especially for the students of Assam . Students outside Guwahati have to manage their accommodation either by renting a room or staying as paying guests since the college lacks hostel facilities.The college has an excellent library with humongous books , Journals and Magazines . Gymkhana Auditorium and canteen are amongstthe other many facilities many provided here. Due to its laborious , hardworking and  dedicated teaching staff and many courtroom experiences it has an excellent network of alumni who have made many prominent judges of supreme court and notable lawyers excelling in their respective field.
