About the college

The first media college in South India that is associated with a university is St Joseph College of Communication in Changanassery (SJCC). It is a self-supporting educational institution for the Christian minority affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam, Kerala, India. "Transforming the media for a healthy world" has been the mission of SJCC for the past 18 years. More than 800 students are enrolled in 6 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate programmes at the college, the first of its kind in South India. The college grants university degrees in Multimedia, Animation, Graphic Design, Cinema & Television, Print and Electronic Journalism, Visual Arts (Interior Design), Visual Effects, and Audiography & Digital Editing. It also grants university degrees in Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts.

We offer a consistent environment to encourage the teaching-learning process, aiding in the production of skilled and disciplined engineers, and provide industrial training. Projects have also been made a mandatory component of the curriculum to allow students to connect their academic learning with real-world problem-solving applications.

SJCC Admission 2024

Undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in degree and certificate programmes may be admitted based on their performance on the admission exam, their prior academic record, a personal interview, and a writing competency test.

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed Class 12 or the equivalent from a recognised board in order to pursue the BA programme at SJCC.

Students applying to the MA programme must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the appropriate field.

UG Admission

The institute offers a three year programme in Bachelor of Arts (BA) with the specialisations of Visual Arts, Animation and Graphic Design, Multimedia, Animation and Visual Effects and Visual Communication.

PG Admission 

The institute offers a two year programme in Master of Arts (MA) with the specialisations as Cinema and Television, Multimedia, Animation, Graphic Design, Print and Electronic Journalism.
