The College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) is a public engineering college. It is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the oldest technical institutions. It is also the oldest technical institution to be established outside Europe. The motto of College is Labor omnia vincit (Latin) which when translated in English stands for ‘Work conquers all'. It was established back in 17th May 1794 and was founded by Michael Topping. The dean of this 227 year old institution is E. Natarajan. The College of Engineering is affiliated to Anna Technological and Research University. The Governor of Tamil Nadu is the Chancellor of this institute and M. K. Surappa is the vice-chancellor.
