About the college
When the college first opened its doors in 1969, it had 164 students, but today it has 1400. From 1969 to 1981, the College was first associated with Karnataka University, Dharwad, then from 1981 to 2004, it remained affiliated with Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. The College was reaffixed to Akkamahadevi Women's University, Vijayapur (formerly Karnataka State Women's University, Vijayapura) in 2004 and has remained associated with it ever since. It is a full-fledged college with undergraduate programmes in arts, science, business, management, computer science, and computer application, as well as a graduate programme in business administration. It bases its good reputation on consistently achieving high rankings and results. As a result, it has earned a reputation for intellectual distinction. It employs highly skilled teachers with doctoral degrees who are research-oriented and extremely competent.

The College offers courses in six different faculties:-
Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Management & Computer Application.
Application form should be submitted before the last date along with the registration fees. Admission is given on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
Eligibility criteria
For undergraduate courses the candidates should have passed PUC from Karnataka or Equivalent.
[Candidate from other states must produce Eligibility Certificate issued from Karnataka State Women's University, Vijayapura
For pursing post graduation from this institution the minimal requirement shall be as per Government guidelines in the case of the PG Common Entrance Test. Candidates must have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree examination from any recognised university, in any topic, with not less than 50% of the total marks (45% for SC/ST Candidates).
UG and PG admission
The college provides both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the stream of arts, science and commerce. It has a total of 19 departments including both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The graduate programme is of 3 Year duration (I Semester to VI Semester) and 2 Year Post Graduate Programme having 4 semesters.
