Admission Requirements:

 

 B.A.


A applicant who has completed the two-year Pre-University Test administered by the Pre-University Education Board in the state of Karnataka, or any other examination deemed comparable by Mangalore University, is eligible for admission to these programmes.

B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.C.A.

A applicant who has completed the two-year Pre-University Test administered by the Pre-University Education Board in the state of Karnataka, or any other examination deemed comparable by Mangalore University, is eligible for admission to these programmes.

B.Com. and B.B.A.

A applicant who has completed the two-year Pre-University Test administered by the Pre-University Education Board in the state of Karnataka, or any other examination deemed comparable by Mangalore University, is eligible for admission to these programmes.
Admission of Diploma Holders in Commercial/Secretarial Practice to the Bachelor of Commerce Degree: Successful candidates in the diploma examination Secretarial/ Commercial Practice offered by the Government of Karnataka may be accepted immediately to the III semester (second year) B.Com. degree course. Such candidates are ineligible to be ranked.

Group – I: LANGUAGES: The applicant must choose one of the following languages as a required subject: Kannada, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Arabic, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, French, German, Russian, Konkani, and Manipuri.

Foreign, NRI, Anglo-Indian, and other Indian students whose mother tongue is not one of the languages listed above will be provided additional English. Students pursuing a B.Sc. (Hospitality Science) must, however, choose only French.

A candidate must choose one of the two languages studied at the Pre-University or comparable level in addition to General and Communicative English. He or she may, however, choose Kannada even if it has not been studied at the Pre-University or comparable level.A candidate may choose any other language listed above with the consent of the University, even if he or she has not studied that language at the Pre-university or comparable level.

Eligibility - PG Programmes

M.A. (Journalism & Mass Communication)
Candidates who have passed any Bachelors Degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent to it are eligible for the programme if they have obtained a minimum of 45% including language subjects. Candidates will be chosen on the basis of merit with a 50:50 weightage for marks in the entrance and qualifying examinations.


MASTER OF ECONOMICS

Candidates who have passed the three-year B.A. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with Economics as major/optional/special subject are eligible for the programme if they have obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in the Economics subject.

M.A. (ENGLISH)
Candidates who have completed the three-year B.A. degree examination at Mangalore University or any other university considered equivalent thereto with English as a major/optional subject (the cognate subject) are eligible to apply for the programme if they have obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in the cognate subject.


Candidates who have studied English as either the first or second language at the graduate degree level for not less than two years/four semesters and candidates who have studied Mangalore University's Additional English for not less than two years/four semesters are also eligible to apply, provided such applications have scored not less than 60 percent in aggregate in the subject's examination.The marks obtained in the English First or Second Language or Additional English exams would be equivalent with the marks obtained in optional English (the related subject) as follows:

60% in English as a First or Second Language to 45% in optional English (the cognate subject).

60% in Additional English is equivalent to 48% in Optional English (the cognate subject).

SOCIAL WORK MASTER (MSW)
Students who have completed any Bachelor Degree examination of Mangalore University or any other examination considered equal thereto are eligible for the programme if they have obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) in Optionals. Candidates will be chosen on the basis of merit with a 50:50 weightage for marks in the entrance and qualifying examinations.


Candidates who have passed the B.A.Ed. Degree examination (Regional College Scheme) is eligible for the PG programme in the Faculty of Arts if the candidate has obtained at least 45 percent (40% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in the relevant subject and has met the other requirements above.

M.COM
Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Com/B.B.M/B.B.A. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto are eligible for the programme if they have obtained not less than 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) aggregate marks in all subjects except Languages and Group III subjects.

FINANCE AND ANALYTICS M.COM:

The candidates have to pass with atleast 45% in Bcom or BBM or BBA percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) aggregate marks in all subjects excluding languages and group III subjects.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with Chemistry as an optional/major/special subject and a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in the subject are eligible for the programme, provided they have studied Physics and Mathematics as optional/major/special/minor/subsidiary subjects either at B.Sc. or at P.U.C./Higher Secondary


MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BIOCHEMISTRY

Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with Biochemistry/Chemistry as optional/major/special subjects with a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks are eligible for the programme provided they have studied Biology as a major/optional/minor/Special/subsidiary subject either at B.Sc or at PUC/Higher Secondary level.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

Candidates who have passed the three/four years B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore Universityor any other University considered equivalent thereto with Life Science subjects and have secured a minimum of 45 percent marks (40 percent in the case of SC/ST/Category-I candidates) in aggregateExcluding Languagesand Group III Subjects are eligible for the programme.


MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CHEMISTRY

Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with Chemistry as an optional/major/special subject and a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in the subjects of physics and mathematics are eligible

PHYSICS M.Sc.
Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with Physics as major/optional/special subject are eligible for the programme provided they have studied Mathematics as major/optional/special/minor/subsidiary subject for at least two years and secured at least 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in Physics and Mathematics.


MASTER OF MATHEMATICS SCIENCE

Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with Mathematics as a major/optional/special subject and obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in Mathematics are eligible for the programme.

 

COUNSELING MASTER OF SCIENCE

Candidates who have passed any Bachelor degree examination with Psychology as one of the subjects or B.S.W. Degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto, or graduates with P.G. Diploma/Diploma in Counselling or graduates with at least 2 years of work experience as Counsellor are eligible for the programme if they have obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) in the examination.


MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CORPORATE PSYCHOLOGY

Candidates who have passed the three-year degree examination in Psychology/Commerce/Business Administration/Business Management/Human Resource Development/Hotel Management/or a degree in Social Work at Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent are eligible for the programme if they have obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-Icandidates)marks in aggregate Including Languagesand Group III subjects.

Candidates who have completed the three-year B.Sc. degree examination at Mangalore University or any other university deemed comparable with a minimum of 45 percent.

Candidates who have completed a Bachelor's degree examination in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Science and Technology, Food Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Technology and Management, Food Technology and Quality Assurance, Food Science and Quality Control, Food and Agricultural Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Microbiology, Horticulture, Dairy Science, Dairy Technology, Fishery Science, Food Science and Quality Control, Food Science and Quality Control, Food Science and Quality Control, Food Science and Quality Control, Food Science Engineering and Engineering Biotechnology with 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I students) aggregate marks are also eligible, omitting Languages and Group III Subjects.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN FOOD SCIENCE, NUTRITION, AND DIETETICS:

Candidates who have passed the three-year B.Sc. degree examinations of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent in the case of SC/ST/Category-I candidates) aggregate marks excluding languages and of group 3 are qualified for this program.. They are favoured if they have studied Food Nutrition and Dietetics/ Food Science/ Biochemistry/ Chemistry as a main subject and one of the following as a major/optional/special subsidiary topic.

Biotechnology, Botany, Microbiology, Pharmacognocy, Zoology, Physiology, Human Physiology, Agriculture, Fishery Engineering and Science Biotechnology.
B.Sc graduates with Diploma/P.G. Diploma programme or U.G.C. recognised B.Vocational graduates or any graduates from the faculty of Science with P.G. Diploma programme are also eligible for admission provided they have studied one of the subjects associated with Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics and have also studied a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent in the case of SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in aggregate excluding languages and Group III subjects at the undergrad level.

M.Sc. IN BIOINFORMATICS Candidates who have qualified for the three-year B.Sc. degree examination of Mangalore University or any other University considered equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in aggregate Excluding languages and of group 3 are qualified for this program. provided they have studied Chemistry/Biology either at the degree level or at least at Pre-University. Candidates will be chosen on the basis of merit with a 50:50 weightage for marks in the entrance and qualifying examinations.


SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY M.Sc.

Candidates with a minimum of 45 percent (45 percent for SC/ST/Category-I candidates) in any of the following Bachelor Degrees from Mangalore University or any other University considered comparable are eligible for the programme without taking language subjects.

 Degree  with Mathematics/Statistics / Physics / Electronics / Instrumentation as optional/major/subsidiary along with PG Diploma in Computer Applications / Computer Science/ (B.Tech). Candidates will be chosen on the basis of merit with a 50:50 weightage for marks in the entrance and qualifying examinations.


MASTERS OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (M.C.A.)
A candidate who has completed any undergrad or equivalent examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Compute Science or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional topics and got an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all subjects is eligible for admission to MCA courses.

M.B.A

The candidate must have a bachelors degree form Mangalore university of any credidted university. of 50% (45% for SC/ST/Category-I students) marks in aggregate, including language subjects. The qualifying requirements and admissions will be established by the Government of Karnataka on a case-by-case basis.

Post Graduate Diploma Programmes

Candidates who have completed the three-year Bachelor Programme in Arts (BA) / Bachelor Programme in Commerce (B.Com) / Bachelor Programme in Business Management (BBM) / Bachelor Programme in Business Administration (BBA) / Bachelor Programme in Computer Applications (BCA) / Bachelor Programme in Science (B.Sc) / Bachelor Programme in Social Work are eligible (BSW). Postgraduate students from the aforementioned fields, such as MA / M.Com / MBA / M.Sc / MSW, are also authorised to apply.

The Placement Cell

The Placement Cell was constituted by the Principal, who served as Director and Placement and Career Guidance Coordinators, as well as other members. The Cell is made up of student representatives from all courses who elect a Student Coordinator. The Student Coordinator works with the Placement Coordinator to make the Cell run well.

Training and Job Placement Cells at the College are tasked with the following duties:
