The Wanless Hospital, Miraj Medical Centre, Miraj, which has been in operation for 115 years, has established a reputation for the exceptional quality of its nursing services, reflecting the backdrop of an excellent nursing education provided by the establishment's College of Nursing.

The College of Nursing, Wanless Hospital, Miraj, is well-known across the world, as evidenced by the hundreds of ex-graduates working in various responsible positions in nations both at home and abroad.

Since its foundation in 1929, the College has offered the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) degree, and in 1979, it began offering the P.B.B.Sc Nursing programme. The Basic B.Sc. Nursing programme began in 2005.We are looking forward to adding another feather to our academic crown by starting the M.Sc.Nursing programme very soon.

OBJECTIVES

Students who complete their courses at the degree and diploma levels will

1. Be able to assess the entire nursing care needs of individual potential patients and families and address these needs using all available resources and scientific knowledge.

2. Be able to learn new skills and provide outstanding bedside nursing care in a hospital or community health setting.

3. Be aware of the many dynamics influencing community social health and welfare programmes, and be capable and willing to engage in the development and implementation of community health programmes.

4. Be able to build abilities in both formal and informal teaching in clinical settings and nursing education programmes.

5. Be able to critically examine areas that require improvement and implement feasible improvements.

6. Ability to delegate, lead, and coordinate care provided by other allied health personnel and nonprofessional employees.

7. Be able to take on more responsibility and leadership in the health team and instruct others to provide high-quality nursing care.

8. Be able to take on early positions of responsibility and contribute fully to the advancement and growth of the profession.

9. Understand research technique and comprehend the importance of nursing research.

General Nursing & Midwifery

Qualifications -Class 12 passed with a 40% score.

Outcomes of the Program

The fundamental Diploma programme in General Nursing and Midwifery is designed to meet the health requirements of individuals, families, communities, and the country as a whole4. Develop the ability to educate both officially and informally in clinical settings and nurse education programmes.

 

B.Sc. Nursing

Eligibility - Passed Std. 12th Science with 45 percent marks. Marks in P.C.B. and 45 percent in English- NEET is Required.

Outcomes of the Program

After successfully completing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, a student should be able to:

1. Assume duties as professional, competent nurses and midwives in delivering promotive, preventative, curative, and rehabilitative services.

2. Decide in nursing circumstances.

3. Protect the right to health and make it easier for individuals and groups to pursue it.

4. Work in a hospital, provide community nursing services, and do research in the field of nursing practise.

5. Act as a teacher, supervisor, or manager in a clinical or public health context.

6. Take part in the change process to enhance system-based practise in the delivery of safe, high-quality nursing care.

 

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing

○ Qualification - After completing General Nursing and Midwifery.

Outcomes of the Program

After completing the Bachelor's degree in nursing, a student should be able to:

M.Sc. Nursing

Eligibility - Basic B.Sc Nursing or P.B.B.Sc Nursing with a minimum of 55% marks.

One year after registration, get experience.

After completing the master's degree in nursing, a student should be able to

2. Talk about health methods for promoting, maintaining, and restoring health and well-being.

3. Demonstrate written, verbal, and digital competency at the individual and collaborative levels.

6. Recognize the importance of research in developing practise in the delivery of high-quality care.

7. Assess leadership and management abilities for working in collaborative teams to get great results.

6. Contribute to education administration, health care policy, and knowledge development to ensure professional practice is advanced.

 

FACILITIES

● Candidates are required to collaborate and practise nursing in accordance with their theoretical understanding.

● Clinical instructors, nursing supervisors, and staff nurses are qualified and skilled in clinical supervision.

● Students are assigned to rural and urban locations based on the Indian Nursing Council syllabus.

● Hostel facilities are available for male and female students who are travelling from afar.

● Students are encouraged to purchase their own books for use in the library. The total number of books accessible (Latest) is around 4,000 volumes of diverse titles. A trained and experienced librarian is on hand to assist pupils in selecting and shelving books.

● Candidates attending clinical experience regions are supplied with a minibus.

● Residence Women students live in a beautiful nurses home. 180 students are housed in a new grey stone structure that is tastefully and comfortably equipped. Each Nurse is given a bed/cot, a table, a chair, and a cabinet. Each student is responsible for bringing her own mattress, blanket sheet, towels, mosquito net, pillow, and pillow coverings. Students should not bring any precious jewellery with them. The College of Nursing accepts no liability for loss or theft.

● Men students are accommodated in the Men's Hostel, depending on room availability.

● The physician and health nurse direct the health services at the College of Nursing. Complete physical examinations are performed at admission and on an annual basis thereafter. Immunization is administered as needed. Personal costs include prescription drugs, tonics, eyeglasses, and dentures. Any unused vacation time will be subtracted from the yearly leave. A annual minimum fee will be required for Medical Service.

● Wanless Hospital's clinical facilities are outstanding for patient study and treatment. The hospital has 400 beds and offers all clinical specialties. It provides services in medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, paediatrics, psychiatry, neurology, a coronary care unit, medical and surgical intensive care units, an artificial kidney unit, and a mother and child care block including a neonatal intensive care unit.
