Jamia Millia Islamia is a public central university. It was established on 29th October 1920. It is located in South East Delhi, Delhi, India. The motto of this institution is ‘allam al-insān-a mā lam ya’lam’ which when translated into English stands for ‘Taught man what he knew not’. The founding fathers of this 100 years old institution are Mahmud Hasan Deobandi, Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, Abdul Majeed Khwaja and Zakir Hussain. The chancellor is Najma Heptulla and the vice-chancellor is Najma Akhtar. The number of students enrolled is 19,773, among which 9,430 are undergraduates, 3,680 are postgraduates and 1,847 are doctoral students. This institution is affiliated to UGC, NAAC, AIU, AICTE and NBA.

The courses offered by the law faculty of Jamia Millia Islamia are BA LLB, LLM (Regular), LLM (Executive), PG Diploma in Labour Law, PG Diploma in Air Space Law and Ph.D/M. Phil. The entrances accepted here are BA LLB (Hons.), LLM (Regular) in Comparative Constitutional Law, Corporate Law, Criminal Law and Personal Law, LLM (Executive), PG Diploma in Labour Law and Ph.D Entrance Test. The eligibility criteria for BA LLB is minimum 50% marks in 10+2 exam, for LLM is minimum of 50% marks in LLB degree, PG Diploma is minimum of 50% marks in Bachelor's degree and for PhD/ M. Phil is master’s degree with minimum 55% marks from recognized University. The average salary is 3-5 LPA for law firms.
