About the college

Government Arts College is situated in Thanthonimalai, Karur. It was established in 1966, it has worked its way ahead of other colleges in the matter of offering higher education of remarkable quality and largely to middle and lower income groups. This college is affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. The College was established in the year the year of 1966. The College is being providing with five under graduate courses under the affiliation of the Madras University adopting Tamil as its medium of instruction. In the year of 2001, the college was accredited with three star status by NAAC. The college was again reaccredited with B+ status by NAAC during 2006-07. College library, hostel, Auditorium hall, Geography lab, Commerce and Geography blocks, Physics wing, Mini Auditorium and Botany Research Lab were constructed within the college building. It is the mission of the college to create everyone an honest searching mind to be ready for value-based creative citizenship for regional, national and global peace and progress of everyone.

In respect to Under Graduate Courses, According to the rules and regulations of the Department of Collegiate Education of Tamil Nadu Government, those students who have passed +2 can apply to the colleges. The admission process is totally based on merit of the candidates.

Rules of reservation for admission:

  •       31% for open Competition (OC)
  •       30% for Backward Classes
  •       20% for Most Backward (MBC) 
  •      In the 18% for Scheduled castes (sc)
  •     1% reserved for Scheduled Tribes

For UG admission, the candidate's upper agr limit should not be more then 21 years.
