Madras Christian College [MCC], which was established in 1837 is a liberal arts and science college, located in Tambaram, Chennai. MCC is an autonomous college affiliated to University of Madras. The college is surrounded with 850 acres of land

Initially college was started as a school for boys in 1835 named St. Andrew's School, located on  Randalls Road in Egmore, Madras. The school was founded by Rev. John Anderson. Later it was upgraded to college by Rev. Johnston, Rev. Braidwood and Margaret Locher Anderson. Rev. William Milleron 1862 by introducing FA and BA courses. In 1865 and 1867. The school was renamed as Madras Christian College( MCC) on 1 January 1877 by Miller. The rapid expansion of college from school was the reason for changing the institution from George town to Tambaram on 30 January 1937. In 1978 the college became Autonomous and introduced many courses. Also it also helped the college to bring diploma courses and certificate courses. Along with this college also introduced vocational degree programmes in History, Zoology and commerce. In 1999 self-financing was started by the college. CBCS was introduced to the college in 2003-2004, which helped the students to have more options. The college was awarded with “college with potential for excellence” on 2016 and it was ranked 10 by NIRF in 2018. MCC is one of the best college in Tamil Nadu with a good infrastructure
