About the college 

Sri Kumara Gurupara Swamigal Arts College is a college located in Thoothukkudi, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1961. It is affiliated to the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. NAAC has re-accredited SKGS with ‘B’ Grade. The college was founded by Thirupanandal.  It is presently managed by the Sri Kumara Gurpara Swamigal Educational Agency. Built from the dream to deliver higher education to the rural and unprivileged and to explore their potential so they can develop in their careers and contribute to society. Campus amenities include classrooms, library, laboratories, gym, outdoor sports equipment, cultural activities and halls. Academically, several UG and PG courses can be opted by the students in a spectrum of subjects in the arts, commerce and science fields.

For undergraduate study, B.Sc. in Chemistry, Botany, Physics, Zoology and Mathematics are offered through the English medium. A Bachelor’s of Arts can be chosen by the student, with the major being in the subject of Economics. The language medium for it is Tamil. Lastly, a general commerce degree of Bachelor’s in Commerce is further offered as a choice to candidates. 

Unlike the UG B.A,  postgraduate study in Economics as a Bachelor of Arts is conducted through an English medium for the length of 2 years. Similarly, a M.Sc. in Chemistry and Physics, via an English medium, has the same duration and specifications.

Eligibility 

12th grade pass is essential to be eligible for the admission in an UG course. For a Master's program, the student must present a certificate of a complete UG degree in the related subject.

Process

Online forms can be accessed from the online portal of the college. There are two Google form links: one for UG and one for PG. An application fee must be paid for each of the two level: for U.G. Rs.50 and P.G. Rs.60 (no charges for SC/ST applicants). All the fields/blanks in the form must be entered, after which soft copies of important documents will have to be uploaded onto the application form. These are: community certificate, transfer certificate, certificate for Physically Challenged, Aadhar card, passport size photograph, marksheets of Xth and XIIth, sports and NCC certificates (if any) and for PG courses especially - B.A./B.Sc. consolidated mark sheets.
