About the college

Syed Ammal Arts and Science College is an institution located in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 2001 by the Syed Ammal Educational Trust which was founded by Dr.E.M.AbdullahIt, the father of Ramanathapuram. It is affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi, and is recognised by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Founded with the purpose to provide academic resources to rural students, the institute has grown with the mission of enabling academic excellence, professional competence and ethical and moral outlook. The college therefore offers several related services like hostels, auditorium, transport, cafeteria, ICT, laboratories, sports services, and a reprographic centre.  Different degrees in arts and sciences can be pursued by students of the college.

For UG Science courses, subjects available to choose are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Micro Biology, Visual Communication, Fashion Technology & Costume Designing. For UG Arts programs, Tamil and English can be studied and for UG Commerce programs, a general B.Com and a B.Com with Computer Applications. BBA and BCA degrees are offered as well. 

For PG study as a Master’s, English, a general M.Com, an M.Com with Computer Applications, Mathematics, Computer Science and Zoology can be pursued.

Eligibility 

A +2 level pass from HSC or a recognized university is mandatory. It is further required to have previous experience of studying a similar group of subjects. Similarly, for being eligible for a Master’s degree, an undergraduate degree in the subject group, plus certification of such, is required.  

Process 

Application forms, separate for UG and PG, are available on the college website in downloadable PDFs. To begin the procedure, students must print and fill these documents with necessary information. Together with copies of mark sheets, community, physical fitness, transfer and conduct certificate, the form must then be submitted to the college office to complete the process.
