About the college 

Velammal Medical College And Hospital Research Institute  [VMCHRI] is an institution located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 2013. It is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. It is a part of the Velammal Group, which consists of hospitals and educational institutions. The founding dream of the college is to raise awareness and knowledge in the medical field and encourage innovative research practices by creating an environment of collaboration and visiting medical professionals. To support holistic development, the campus thus provides laboratories, cafeteria, library, hostel, prayer halls, supermarket, transportation, etc. In terms of education, UG and PG stage courses can be opted for by aspiring medical students. 

VMCHRI Admission 2024 

For UG aspiring candidates, a medical degree can be chosen as an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). The program runs for 5 years. It is an approved doctoral degree recognised by the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. 

For PG medical students, a Masters in Emergency Medicine (MEM) is available, where students will learn and specialise in dealing with emergencies like accidents, diseases and complications. It is a three year course. 

Eligibility 

Criteria for MBBS is to have a pass in the HSC or an equivalent examination with a selection of subjects like Biology, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, or Botany. It is required to have qualified in the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). For students of other boards, states and countries, an eligibility certificate from Tamil Nadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University needs to be presented. 

Criteria for a MEM degree is to have a qualified MBBS and a permanent registration certificate from either a state medical council or of India. For foreign applicants who have graduated from a medical school internationally, they must have cleared as a foreign medical graduate (FMG). 

Process

To apply for either courses, candidates must either download the form from the website or acquire one from the office in person. Documents essential to both programs are passport size photo, birth certificate, transfer certificate, community certificate, conduct certificate and academic mark sheets of grade 10 and 12. If applying for the MEM, other important documents are the MBBS marklist and MCI registration certificate.
