About the college

Vivekananda Dental College For Women  [VDCW] is an institute located in Tiruchengodu, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 2007 and is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. It was founded with the efforts of Professor Dr. M. Karunanith, who established the Angammal Educational Trust, Krishna Educational and Charitable Trust, and also took over Rabindharanath Tagore Educational Charitable Trust. The dental college’s motive is to focus on developing the right academic environment for empowering young women in technology, knowledge, and professionalism so they can contribute to competent health care, society and themselves. Amenities provided for the benefit of students are laboratories, lecture hall, library, hostel, cafeteria, auditorium, sports & games, safety & security, gymnasium, community service, and student counseling centre. These facilities thus complement the courses offered academically - undergraduate and graduate - to the aspiring medical students.

VDCW Admission 2024 

For UG study, a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) can be chosen. It is a 4 year long course plus one year of internship. For postgraduate dental study, students can choose the degree of a Master of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.), a program which spans 3 years. Majors available are Pedodontics and Preventive dentistry, Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Prosthodontics, Crown and Bridge, Public Health Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Periodontics, Orthodontics and Deontofacial orthopaedics, and Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. 

Eligibility 

A Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent (10+2) must be passed by the candidate. The candidate is required to have studied Botany, Zoology, Biology, Physics or Chemistry, with a minimum 50% aggregate marks. For SC/ST students, 40% is acceptable. Students are required to have completed 17 years of age before 31st July.

For the M.D.S postgraduate degree, the requirements are: to have a B.D.S Degree or have completed 1 year of House Surgeon ship, or 3 years of dental experience after B.D.S.

Process 

For the admission process, a student must obtain an application form and prospectus from the office of Vivekananda Educational Institutions. Once they are filled, the forms must be sent via post or in person to the admission office. A fee is expected to be paid as a reservation once selected, which can be done through NEFT or DD.
