Calcutta Institute of Technology (CIT) is one of the top autonomous institutes in Howrah, west Bengal. It was developed in 2004 and is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, and West Bengal State Council of technical education. It has been approved by the AICTE.

The total fees of the respective courses ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹ 85,000 per year depending upon the various course structure and their requirements.
Admission procedure
Basic eligibility criteria for the candidates who are interested in taking admission in various undergraduate programs must have to pass their 10+2 exam from any recognised board or any equivalent exam as well with an aggregate of 45% marks and also have physics, chemistry and mathematics as their main subjects. And the selection will be done on the basis of marks scored in JEE entrance examination. Whereas for diploma courses basic eligibility criteria for candidates is that candidates must have to qualify their 10th examination from any recognised board and must have to secure a minimum of 35% marks and the selection will be done on the basis of merit.
Basic requirement for candidate for various post - graduate programs is that candidates must have to pass their bachelor's degree from any recognised University in the relevant stream with an aggregate of 50% marks and the selection will be done on the basis of marks scored in PGET which is followed by the counselling conducted by the WBUT. The highest package that of a during the placement drive is off INR 9 Lakhs per annum whereas the average package that offered during the placement is of INR 3 lakh per annum. Top recruiting companies that visit here for the placements are Thirdeye, Kriti Technology, CTS, Cloud Kaplan, Prey Cap etc . About 75% of the students were placed every year.
